  • What is something people in Aged Care have to deal with that you want to fix?

Aged Care and in particular, Sunrise Home Care, practice a person-centred care approach. This means that we place our consumers at the centre of the service we deliver, ensuring we cater to their individual needs and wants. The focus is on the person and what they can do, not their condition or disability. Support should focus on achieving the person’s aspirations and be tailored to their needs and unique circumstances, I would love to ensure that all vulnerable or aged people receive this level of care and support.

  • What do you do at Sunrise?

I work as a Home Care Partner, assisting our older Australians and ensuring that they are receiving the services they require.

I interact with consumers and family regarding Home Care Packages & Care Services, and I make the consumers feel engaged and supported as their care needs & service requirements increase.

  • What is your past experience for working in your position?

I have worked in a nursing role since I was 17 years old, I have worked in palliative care, hospitals, and dementia specific wards before joining Sunrise in 2018.

During my time at Sunrise, I have built relationships with our consumers and their families as well as the team and companies in which we work with, pharmacies, dietitian ect.

I began my new role as HCP Assistant last year and so far I am loving it, it is a new challenge and I am viewing our consumers’ in  a new light but I am finding it just as rewarding.
