  • What is something people in Aged Care deal with that you want to fix?

Now that I am over the 50 mark, I really understand more than ever how things can change in our lives. I have been told by many elderly people I have cared for that “no one listens to me and all I want to do is keep my Independence!”

I really do understand this, not only because I am getting older but also because I have lived through a lot of things. Age is a number and I still have a voice. When we are children, we so much want to be Independent then we get it and all of a sudden it feels like someone is trying to take it away. I want to make sure our consumers are heard and I want make sure I keep them as Independent as I can. I’m not here to take that all away but show them ways to keep you doing all the things you want and love to do.

  • What do you do at Sunrise?

I want our consumers to know that I am Thankful for being welcomed into their homes and for allowing me to help keep them safe and enjoy a good quality of life. I am here to help our consumers with anything that they find challenging and that they could do before but now it’s a bit harder to manage. I show them ways to Conserve energy and help retain Independence.
